While strong teams have specific, well understood objectives, it’s important to remember that different people have different strengths and styles in accomplishing those goals. Utilizing these differing personality types can lead to increased teamwork, better results and regular innovation.
This workshop is best utilized for gaining clarity and buy-in on team objectives. A large portion of the brainstorming process is identifying ways to maximize the natural strengths of your team members in accomplishing those goals.
Exercise Overview
1 Lecture (10 minutes) | “Knowing All the Answers”
A recap of the article and a reminder that no individual can be more successful than a smoothly working team of diverse individuals.
2 Group Exercise (15 minutes) | “Learning from Marines”
Designed to focus the team on a single, clearly understood objective, then brainstorming creative ways to accomplish it.
3 Discussion (20 minutes) | “The Four Thinkers”
Identifying the four dominant thinking styles, and which members from your team fit which style. Revisting the brainstorming list from Exercise 2 and matching thinking style with activity..
4 Wrap Up Discussion (5 minutes) | “Failing Faster”
As a group, identifying ways to learn through failure, without risking losing your job.
Key Deliverables
Staff members completing this workshop will gain clarity on team objectives, and will have a renewed sense of passion and excitement for their contribution. The workshop should also stimulate new ideas for growth.
This 50 minute workshop requires no additional materials beyond the standard Pen, Paper, Whiteboard and Markers.
This workshop encourages innovation and new project trials. A status update meeting should be scheduled for one month after the workshop.
