The Motivation Loop
Entrepreneurial Thinking
Developing the Leader Within You
Published by Thomas Nelson Publishers
Acceptance and maximization of change is a leadership role anyone in an organization can play. We want to help people become more comfortable with change and understand that it’s often a matter of when, not if, that things change. When that’s the case – the sooner, the better.
This workshop addresses the need for change, the reasons for change, and how to get buy-in for that change. It also encourages proactive growth, (rather than reactive).
Exercise Overview
1 Lecture (10 minutes) | “Motivation Flywheel”
A recap of the article, as well as a brief discussion on motivation and how it is generated by action. (and not the other way around)
2 Solo & Discussion (15 minutes) | “Change Attitude”
Discussion and exercises on the three reasons people change their behaviours. We also look at the general attitude towards change and why people feel that way.
3 Solo & Discussion (20 minutes) | “Triple Vision”
This exercise examines the purpose for change, by looking at three probable outcomes based on 1) Not changing behaviors, 2) Changing Reactively, and 3) Changing Proactively.
4 Wrap Up Discussion (5 minutes) | “Good Ol’ Days”
A brief discussion on reminiscing – the advantages, the drawbacks and how we should do so moving forward.
Key Deliverables
Staff members partaking in, and completing this workshop will gain a better understanding of the nature of motivation and attitudes towards change. Through several exercises, we will work to create a mindset that embraces change and inspires others to do the same.
This 50 minute workshop requires no additional materials beyond the standard Pen, Paper, Whiteboard and Markers. This is a stand alone workshop, and no additional followup work is required.
